SwiftPOS - Point of Sale System

SwiftPOS is a lightweight, fast Point of Sale system built in pure PHP with zero external dependencies. It supports cash, card, and mobile money payments, works with SQLite (zero setup) or MySQL, and runs on any standard hosting environment.

The POS terminal features a product grid with live search and barcode scanner support, a cart with quantity controls, tax calculation, and a change calculator. Sales are processed via AJAX with auto-generated invoice numbers and transaction references. Receipts print directly from the browser — no extra software needed.

The admin panel gives full control over products, categories, inventory (with low-stock and out-of-stock alerts), sales history with date filters and item-level detail views, and store settings (name, currency, tax rate, receipt footer). Role-based access separates admin and cashier permissions.

Installation takes under a minute — upload, open install.php, set your admin credentials, done.

Requirements

• PHP 7.4 or higher • SQLite (built into PHP) OR MySQL 5.7+ / MariaDB 10+ • Any modern web server (Apache, Nginx, or PHP built-in server) • No external libraries, frameworks, or Composer packages required  

Instructions

Installation

1. Upload all files to your web server (e.g., public_html/swiftpos/)
2. Make sure the database/ folder is writable (chmod 755)
3. Open <a href="https://yourdomain.com/swiftpos/install.php">https://yourdomain.com/swiftpo...</a> in your browser
4. Enter your desired admin username and password
5. Click Install & Create Admin
6. Delete install.php from your server for security

Using the POS Terminal

1. Login at login.php with your credentials
2. Cashiers are redirected to the POS terminal automatically
3. Click a product in the grid to add it to the cart (or scan a barcode)
4. Use the search bar to filter products by name
5. Adjust quantities with the +/− buttons in the cart
6. Select a payment method: Cash, Card, or Mobile
7. For cash: enter the amount received to see the change
8. For card/mobile: enter the transaction reference from your device
9. Click Complete Sale
10. Print the receipt or click "New Sale" to continue

Admin Panel

1. Admins are redirected to the dashboard after login
2. Products — Add, edit, or delete products (name, price, stock, barcode, category)
3. Categories — Add or delete product categories
4. Inventory — View stock levels, get low/out-of-stock alerts, adjust stock quantities
5. Sales — View all transactions, filter by Today/This Month/All, view item-level detail, delete records
6. Settings — Change store name, currency symbol, tax rate, and receipt footer text

Barcode Scanner Setup

1. Connect any USB barcode scanner to your computer
2. Click the search bar on the POS terminal
3. Scan a barcode — the product is added to the cart automatically

Using MySQL Instead of SQLite (Optional)

1. Open config/config.php
2. Change DB_TYPE to 'mysql'
3. Set your DB_HOST, DB_USER, DB_PASS, and DB_NAME
4. Re-run install.ph
