StockSight - Inventory Manager Low-Stock Alerts

Description

StockSight is an inventory and stock manager built around a real audit trail: every quantity change is a logged movement, so the number on screen and the log always agree. Track as many items as you need, each with its own SKU and optional low-stock threshold, in a list that stays fast - paginated and sortable by SKU, name, quantity, or threshold - whether you have 20 items or 2,000.

Quantity is never edited directly. It's always the sum of an item's movement history: receiving stock, recording a sale, or making a correction, each with a timestamp and an optional note. Selling more than is on hand is blocked automatically, and there's no delete button by design - uncheck "Active" to archive an item instead, keeping its movement history intact while hiding it from the dashboard.

A dashboard reordering list surfaces the items closest to their threshold, using either a per-item threshold or a site-wide default, with a link through to the full filtered list. CSV import and export round out day-to-day use: bring in an existing spreadsheet in one upload, or export the full catalog any time for a backup or a report - a re-import can update an item's name, description, threshold, and active status without silently overwriting quantity, since stock changes always go through a logged movement.

Spreadsheet inventory tracking breaks down the moment two people touch the same file. StockSight gives a small retailer, workshop, or single-location business a single source of truth with a real audit trail, without the overhead of a full warehouse management system - and no separate database server to install, since it runs on a self-contained SQLite database that a short setup form creates on first visit.

Features

- Track stock across as many items as you need, each with its own SKU and optional low-stock threshold; the items list is paginated and sortable by SKU, name, quantity, or threshold. - Every quantity change is a logged movement: receiving stock, recording a sale, or making a correction, each with a timestamp and an optional note. - Quantity is never edited directly - it's always the sum of an item's movement history, and selling more than you have on hand is blocked automatically. - A dashboard reordering list shows the items closest to their threshold, using a per-item threshold or a site-wide default. - CSV import and export: bring in an existing spreadsheet in one upload, or export the full catalog any time for a backup or a report. - SQLite storage, no MySQL database to create - a short setup form creates everything. - Add extra staff logins from Settings, no database editing required. - No Composer, no Node, no build step for the buyer.

Requirements

PHP 8.1 or later with `pdo_sqlite`.

Instructions

1. Upload the contents of `src/` to your web host, or run locally with `php -S localhost:8000 -t src`. 2. Make sure `src/data/` is writable by PHP. The included `.htaccess` blocks direct web access to the SQLite database; add an equivalent Nginx `location` block if you're not on Apache. 3. Visit the site. With no database yet, you'll be taken to a one-time setup screen: business name, a default low-stock threshold, and an admin login. 4. Set your default low-stock threshold and add staff logins from Settings; each item can override the threshold individually from its own edit form. 5. Add an item with a starting quantity, recorded as its first "receive" movement. 6. From an item's page, record a receive (stock in), sale (stock out, can't go below zero), or adjustment (correction) as changes happen - quantity is always derived from this movement history. 7. Use the dashboard's "Needs reordering" list to see items closest to threshold, and the items list (paginated, sortable, searchable, with a low-stock-only filter) to manage the full catalog. Uncheck "Active" to archive an item instead of deleting it. 8. Use Export CSV to download the full catalog (`sku,name,description,quantity,low_stock_threshold,active`), or Import CSV to bulk-add/update items - only `sku` and `name` are required columns, and quantity on existing SKUs is never overwritten by import.
