RocketBase - React Movie and TV Catalog
Description
RocketBase is a movie and TV catalog. Posters, backdrops, ratings, people, videos, and images load live from TMDB. The catalog is not stored in a database. Open a title for the poster, logo, score, videos, and images. Search from the search page or from the bar in the navigation. Save titles, favorites and scores in My list. That list stays in the browser. The interface is English. About and Contact are included. The contact form can send mail through your own mailbox. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

- Optional contact form using your own SMTP mailbox.
- Live TMDB data with no catalog database required.
Requirements
- Node.js 22 or newer, and npm.
- Your own TMDB v3 API key. A key is not included.
- A host that can run Node.js 22. Your own server, a VPS, or Vercel.
- After
npm run build, the startup file is.output/server/index.mjs. There is noapp.js. - SMTP mailbox credentials, only if you enable the contact form.
- No database is required.
Instructions
- Extract the download and open the project directory.
- Run
npm install. - Copy
.env.exampleto.env. - Set
TMDB_API_KEYto your TMDB v3 API key. - Run
npm run devand openhttp://localhost:8080. - Run
npm run build. - On a panel that asks for an application startup file, set it to
.output/server/index.mjs. From a terminal,npm startdoes the same thing and listens on port 3000. SetHOSTandPORTonly if the panel does not assign them. - On Vercel, set the Application Preset to TanStack Start and add
TMDB_API_KEYto the project environment. Do not set a startup file there. - To receive contact messages, set
CONTACT_EMAIL,SMTP_HOST,SMTP_PORT,SMTP_USER, andSMTP_PASS.SMTP_FROMis optional.
