Requirements

• Ruby 3.4.5 with Bundler
• Node.js with npm
• PostgreSQL (PostgreSQL 17 is supplied by the Compose stacks)
• Docker with Compose v2, if using the included container workflow
• An SMTP provider for invitation and password-reset email in production
• A Linux host and TLS-terminating reverse proxy for public production deployment

Instructions

Option 1: Ruby on Rails built-in setup

1. Unzip the package and open documentation/index.html.
2. Install Ruby 3.4.5, Node.js with npm, and PostgreSQL.
3. Install Ruby dependencies with bundle install.
4. Install frontend dependencies with npm install.
5. Create and migrate the database with bin/rails db:prepare.
6. Run Rails and Vite together with bin/dev.
7. Open http://localhost:3000 and register the first administrator.

Option 2: Docker Compose setup

1. Install Docker with Compose v2.
2. Unzip the package and open a terminal in the project folder.
3. Run docker compose up --build.
4. Open http://localhost:3000 and register the first administrator.
