Your community. Your brand. Your complete poker platform.

PokerEngine brings together multiplayer poker, a built-in CMS, visual customisation and a full administration workspace. Run it on your server, build the pages around your community, and manage the games and player experience from one place.

Virtual chips only. One-time software licence. No platform subscription. Hosting, your domain and any external services you choose remain separate costs. Envato licence terms apply.

Play the real product, then inspect the controls. Create a free demo account to join a table, or explore the back-office in read-only mode.

01 — A complete player experience

Texas Hold’em and Omaha, cash tables, Sit & Go, Spin & Go and multi-table tournaments. Add profiles, social features and progression to give players a home around the games.

  • Play: real-time multiplayer, No-Limit and Pot-Limit, configurable blinds and stacks, late registration, table consolidation and final tables.
  • Connect: friends, direct messages, presence, private invite tables, chip gifting, in-game reactions and notifications.
  • Progress: achievements, daily rewards, leaderboards, tiered ranks and recorded hand history with step-by-step replay.

02 — A CMS and visual tools to make it your own

Build the website around your poker room. The Pages builder provides visual blocks and widgets; Lobby Studio designs and embeds your lobbies; the theme and layout controls bring your brand across the experience.

  • CMS: manage pages, compose content blocks, place widgets and publish the result.
  • Lobby Studio: choose layouts, select tables, adjust the lobby and export an embed snippet.
  • Customisation: nine themes, a custom theme editor, branding, navigation, footer, login presentation and table styling.
  • Mobile PWA: an installable mobile experience with configurable navigation, destinations and identity.

These are screenshots of the actual product controls. Explore them in the read-only administration →

03 — The tools to run and understand your platform

Go beyond creating tables. Manage bots, inspect activity, moderate player behaviour, review virtual-chip movements and configure the surrounding communication.

  • Games and bots: tables, tournaments, bot identities, rosters and schedules for cash tables and MTTs.
  • Insights: live pulse, player analytics, trends, data export, hand history and tournament results.
  • Accountability: player reports, moderation, chip audit, IP monitoring and an admin activity log.
  • Accounts: player authentication, configurable Google sign-in and TOTP two-factor authentication for players and administrators.
  • Communication: branded SMTP emails, Banner Library with configurable AdSense support, and custom Sound FX.

04 — Install it on your infrastructure

The package includes Docker with PostgreSQL, a guided first-run wizard, backup tools, signed application updates and unobfuscated source code. The documentation covers installation, your domain, HTTPS and administration.

A suitable VPS or cloud server is required. Shared / cPanel hosting is not supported. You retain responsibility for hosting, server maintenance and any external services you configure. Developers also have a documented admin REST API with token authentication.

Third-party services

PokerEngine runs on your own server and does not send any analytics or telemetry. Four external services can be contacted, and you control all of them. If you activate your Envato purchase code, the server sends that code and your domain to support.pokerengine.net to verify the licence and your support period, once at activation and once a day afterwards; activation is optional and the game runs the same without it. When a player registers, the server asks Gravatar whether that email has a public avatar, which you can switch off. Google sign-in and Google AdSense are both included but inactive until you enter your own Google credentials. The bundled login templates load their web fonts from Google Fonts, which you can replace with self-hosted files. Full details, including how to disable each one, are in the documentation.

Technical Requirements

  • A VPS or cloud server (Ubuntu or Debian recommended) able to run Docker & Docker Compose
  • PostgreSQL 16 database — bundled via Docker, or bring your own
  • Advanced users can run it manually with Node.js 20.19+ or 22.12+ and PostgreSQL 16
  • Not compatible with shared / cPanel hosting — this is a real-time Node.js + PostgreSQL application, not a PHP script
  • A domain name (or subdomain) pointed at your server
  • A reverse proxy for HTTPS (Nginx Proxy Manager, Nginx, Caddy or Traefik) with a free Let’s Encrypt certificate

Compatibility

  • Server: Node.js 20.19+ or 22.12+, PostgreSQL 16, Docker / Docker Compose
  • Browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (desktop and mobile), Brave, Opera, Vivaldi
  • Mobile: fully responsive and installable as a PWA (Android 10+, iOS 15+)
  • OS: Windows 10/11, macOS 11+, Linux (Ubuntu 20.04+, Debian 11+)
  • Reverse proxies: Nginx Proxy Manager, Nginx, Caddy, Traefik

What’s Included

  • Full source code (Node.js server + vanilla JS client), unobfuscated
  • Docker & Docker Compose setup with bundled PostgreSQL
  • One-command installer (install.sh) and a guided visual setup wizard
  • Complete, beginner-friendly documentation: install from zero, domain & HTTPS, and every admin feature

Support & Updates

  • Actively developed with regular updates. Open a support ticket from the admin panel and we respond quickly.
  • Updates are free for existing buyers, simply re-download from your Envato downloads page.

Changelog

Version 1.3.0 – 15 September 2026
IMPORTANT: apply this one by hand, not from Settings > Updates. It changes
dependencies, which the in-app updater refuses on purpose, and it carries a
database migration that runs on the first boot. Take a backup first. The
"Manual update" chapter of the documentation walks through it, about ten minutes.
Before you start, copy server/tables.config.json aside and put it back after the
update, or the tables you created revert to the packaged list. This is the last
time that step is needed.

Security
- Cards are shuffled with the cryptographic random generator instead of
Math.random, so the order of the remaining deck cannot be predicted
- Player names and avatars are escaped everywhere they are displayed, on the
seat, in the chat, in the hand log and in the end-of-hand animation, and the
server refuses any avatar path it did not issue itself
- Email verification and password reset tokens are hashed, and two-factor
secrets are encrypted at rest, so a stolen database backup no longer grants
account takeover. Recovery codes were already hashed and are untouched
- Every page carries a per-response script nonce, including the table, the admin
and the tournament embeds, replacing eight hand-written policies
- The engine runs as an unprivileged user in Docker, and the manual update
procedure now installs the hardened deployment files as well
- Fourteen dependency advisories, nine of them high, are down to zero
- Server errors no longer expose internal paths or stack traces
- A private table can no longer be created with an invisible name

Removed
- The cashier and the realMoneyEnabled setting, which could be switched on from
the settings API and stopped the server from starting. As a result
welcomeBonusEnabled and dailyRewardsEnabled now work as their switches say
- The Windows and macOS double-click launchers, which started a server with no
database and did nothing at all on a Mac

New
- One-command installation on a Linux server with install.sh, then a guided
  eight-step setup wizard
- Rake settings in the admin: percentage, per-pot cap and no flop no drop
- Adjust a player's chips from the Players page, set, add or subtract, with every
change recorded in the chip audit trail with before and after balances
- A collapsible table chat on desktop with an unread counter, and a permanent
full-screen button on desktop and Android
- The installable mobile app is now optional, with a switch in Settings
- Documentation chapters showing the product from the player's side, and listing
every outbound connection with what triggers it and how to switch it off
- Documentation added for troubleshooting, the manual update procedure, admin API
request and response samples, and a complete JWT integration example

Fixed
- Player two-factor authentication and Google sign-in returned a 500 error on a
default installation, and turning on player 2FA could lock out every player
- Your table configuration now survives an update instead of reverting to the
  packaged list
- Screen rotation and full-screen mode in the installed mobile app
- Sound now starts on the first click, without muting and unmuting
- Player names are highlighted in the table log, in the same colour as chat names
- The Modern Minimal lobby no longer switches to dark text on light backgrounds
when the visitor's system is in dark mode, and the Card Room Vintage lobby
keeps its paper surfaces when embedded in a page
- Manual installations outside Docker find their files when started from any
  directory
- The admin console no longer references two files that are not shipped, so it
  loads without console errors
- The offline documentation opens from the admin, and its reference links and
code examples are served instead of returning 404
- The profile editor is loaded in standalone and embedded profiles
- Animated PNG avatars are accepted, where they used to be rejected
- The same variant labels everywhere: Hold'em NL, Omaha PL and Omaha NL

Improved
- All shipped JavaScript is readable, one statement per line, no file with a line
over 300 characters, and the inline icons moved to a documented registry
- The bundled third-party text editor was replaced by an in-house one with the
same formatting options, so the package contains no third-party code
- Folders are named after what they do and the admin views mirror the admin
sidebar, with the full tree documented in the guide and the README
- The manual Node installation loads your .env file when present, and all 103
environment variables are documented with their accepted values and defaults
- A LICENSE file is included and every command in package.json runs on a fresh
  install
