InvoiceLite - Invoice Quote Generator

InvoiceLite is a self-hosted invoice and quote tool for freelancers and small businesses who want to send a professional invoice today, not after an afternoon of hosting configuration. It handles client records, line-itemed invoices and quotes with tax and automatic numbering, and real PDF export generated on the fly for every document - all wrapped in a distinctive navy-and-gold "Ledger" visual theme carried through the web app and the generated PDFs, not a reskinned generic admin template.

Most invoice scripts at this price point expect a MySQL database and a manual setup guide. InvoiceLite skips that step entirely: upload the files, open the site, and a short setup form creates the database and your login. There is no separate database server to install or configure - everything is stored in a self-contained SQLite file that lives alongside the app.

Day-to-day, a dashboard shows outstanding balance, overdue invoices, and open quotes at a glance, and an accepted quote becomes an invoice in one click without retyping line items. Search and pagination on invoices, quotes, and clients keep the lists fast as your history grows, and the whole app is responsive down to phone-sized screens.

No Composer, no Node, and no build step are required on the buyer's end - just PHP and a writable folder.

Requirements

PHP 8.1 or later with the `pdo_sqlite` extension, which almost every host enables by default.

Instructions

1. Upload the contents of `src/` to your web host, or run locally with `php -S localhost:8000 -t src`. 2. Make sure `src/data/` is writable by PHP - this is where the SQLite database is created. The bundled `.htaccess` blocks direct web access to it; on Nginx, which ignores `.htaccess`, add an equivalent `location` block yourself. 3. Visit the site in a browser. Since no database exists yet, you're taken to a one-time setup screen: enter your business details and create an admin email and password. 4. You're logged in automatically after setup. Log back in later at `login.php`. 5. Add a client under Clients before creating their first invoice or quote. 6. Configure your business profile, currency symbol, tax label/default rate, and invoice/quote numbering from Settings. 7. Create invoices and quotes with line items (a default tax rate can be overridden per document); totals are always recalculated on save. Every document has a "View PDF" link that opens a generated PDF in a new tab. 8. To convert an accepted quote into an invoice, open it and click "Convert to invoice" - a new invoice is created with its own number and the same line items, and the original quote is marked accepted and kept for your records.
